Skipper Into June.

Despite the misty conditions today I headed up to the patch today hoping to see my first Large Skipper of the year. It wasn't long before the first one was spotted, a male, and then they kept on coming with possibly around 10 seen in total. This included a female that posed nicely for me.

Several other species of both Moth and Butterfly were also seen although the conditions meant many were staying hidden. On the walk up the hill an attractive female Common Blue was trying to warm up, not easy with no sun!!

  1. I am pleased you were able to find Large Skippers. We have them up here, but they are rarely seen. The first eas seen about five years ago and then none recorded until last year when someone sawvthem in two different locations.
