An Orchid Day.

The original plan for yesterday was to head West for the Duke of Burgundy, however, the weather on the morning was worse than predicted, so instead it was a stroll from Woodingdean for my annual trip to see the Early Spider Orchids. On site the clouds were still a bit heavy and a very cool wind didn't help. However, the sight of hundreds and perhaps thousands of Early Spider Orchids made it all worthwhile. In all the years I've seen them here this has to be the largest number I've had before.

On the way back to Seaford a stop at a local colony of Green Winged Orchids. Once again numbers were good although there wasn't as much variety in colour as I have seen here before.
