We h...Great that the Grayling are hanging on there. We have three known colonies, but sadly one is in the middle of a massive housing development, so is in the process of being wiped out. Not far from there a new colony formed a few years ago on an old slag heap. There is one little colony in the hills in a steep-sided valley and this year I have received a report of a sighting in a suitable site further along in the hills. <br />We have tried to make a new site for them using crushed concrete seeded with Fescue and wild flowers, but no luck getting the butterflies to accept it yet.
